Reserved height

This is the most important point. You need to make sure that the finished surface of the floor and the finished surface of the adjoining material are kept at the same height before laying the floor.

Designing expansion joints

The floor will expand and contract with environmental changes, and the expansion and contraction is far beyond our imagination, so the floor must be left with expansion joints during installation. Reasonable arrangement of expansion joints becomes a key part of the installation of fastener-free strips.



First let us understand the four major factors affecting the expansion and contraction of the floor.

①Humidity change

If the humidity varies a lot, the range of expansion and contraction is large. Small changes in humidity, the range of expansion and contraction is small. Humidity varies from region to region, like the north, extremely dry in winter. And the south, back to the south of the day and extremely humid.

②Paving span

Laying span is large, the reserved expansion joints should be large; laying span is small, the expansion joints are small. Different floors have corresponding span limits. For example, the span is not more than 7-10 meters in the case of three-layer ordinary installation, and 15-20 meters in the case of multi-layer ordinary installation.

③Flooring type

Solid wood three-layer expands and contracts, while solid wood multi-layer flooring expands and contracts less. The structural properties of multi-layer flooring are more stable than those of three-layer, so the expansion and contraction of the floor is less affected by humidity.

④With floor heating or not

The range of expansion and contraction under floor heating conditions is large, and the range of expansion and contraction under no floor heating conditions is small.

Underfloor heating conditions to lay a large area of three-layer floor, such installation conditions, the expansion and contraction of the floor is the largest. At this time, if the use of the aforementioned way to reserve expansion joints will leave the late-stage floor arching hidden trouble.
